Delete data models

Use the following procedures to delete the components of a data model.

Delete entities

You can delete an entity if the entity contains no entity items. For information about how to delete entity items, see Delete entity items.

To delete an entity:

To access the entities in a data model, do the following:

On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Data Models.

Click the name of a data model.

Note: When an entity exists in multiple data models, the entity is deleted only from the data model that you select.

Select the check box next to the entity that you want to delete.

Note: If the entity contains any entity items, you must delete the entity items before you can delete the entity. For information about how to delete entity items, see Delete entity items. You cannot delete the default system entities that are created by the application.

Click Delete, and then click OK.

The entity, including the entity's fields and any coding templates or column templates that are associated with the entity, are deleted.

Delete entity fields

To delete an entity field:

To access the fields associated with an entity, do the following:

On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Data Models.

Click the name of the data model that the entity belongs to.

Caution: When an entity exists in multiple data models, the entity's fields are deleted in every data model that the entity belongs to.

Click the name of the entity.

In the navigation pane, click Fields.

Select the check box next to the fields that you want to delete.

Note: You cannot delete the default entity fields that are created by the application.

Click Delete.

Caution: If you delete a field that has values coded to it, the values are deleted.

Click OK.

Delete a connection between entities

Deleting a connection between entities prevents reviewers from connecting entity items that belong to the two entities. You can delete a connection between two entities if no entity items use the connection. For information about how to remove connections between entity items, see Disconnect entity items from each other.

To delete a connection between entities:

To access the connections associated with an entity, do the following:

On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Data Models.

Click the name of the data model that the entity belongs to.

Caution: When an entity exists in multiple data models, the entity's connections are deleted in every data model that the entity belongs to.

Click the name of the entity.

In the navigation pane, click Connections.

Select the check box next to the connection that you want to delete.

Note: If any entity items use the connection, you must disconnect the entity items before you can delete the connection between the entities. For information about how to disconnect entity items, see Disconnect entity items from each other.

Click Delete, and then click OK.

Delete column templates for entities

To delete an entity's column templates:

To access the column templates associated with an entity, do the following:

On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Data Models.

Click the name of the data model that the entity belongs to.

Caution: When an entity exists in multiple data models, the entity's column templates are deleted in every data model that the entity belongs to.

Click the name of the entity.

In the navigation pane, click Column Templates.

Select the check box next to the column template that you want to delete.

Click Delete, and then click OK.

Delete coding templates for entities

You can delete an entity's coding templates.

When you delete an entity's coding template, any values that are coded to items in the template remain coded.

To delete an entity's coding template:

To access the coding templates associated with an entity, do the following:

On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Data Models.

Click the name of the data model that the entity belongs to.

Caution: When an entity exists in multiple data models, the entity's coding templates are deleted in every data model that the entity belongs to.

Click the name of the entity.

In the navigation pane, click Conditional Templates.

Select the check box next to the coding template that you want to delete.

Click Delete, and then click OK.
